Direct Current Vector Control for HVDC Light System Using 12 Pulse Converter

M. Baghiyavathy and C. Karthikeyan

Abstract:

This paper proposes optimal control strategies for HVDC light system using direct current vector control mechanism for 12 pulse converter. With the advance of power electronic technology, the application of HVDC light systems based on voltage source converters has increased rapidly in renewable, micro grid, and electronic power systems. Control the active power, reactive power, grid voltage by introduced of direct current vector control. The rectifier and the inverter are 12- pulse converters using two 6- pulse bridges connected in series. By using 12- pulse converter, the Total Harmonics Distortion factor and the ripple factor is reduced in AC and DC side as compare to the 6- pulse converter technique.
